The Katsucon Live Action Role-Playing game, or LARP for short, is an interactive, imagination-based experience that takes place over the entire Katsucon weekend. Players will take on the role of a character of their choice from any form of established fiction – anime, manga, cartoons or even classical literature. Players will then interact with each other, and with an original setting and story designed each year for the LARP, leading up to a dramatic conclusion determined entirely by their choices.

Katsucon 2020’s LARP will officially kick off on Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM with a brief rules discussion and system demonstration. Joining the LARP is as easy as stopping by at any point on Friday or Saturday and letting a LARP staff member know you’re interested in playing. Or if you’d like to get a jump start on things, by sending us an email at [email protected] with your name and, up to three (3) characters that you would be interested in playing at this year’s LARP.

Q: Do I need to cosplay to participate in the LARP?/Am I only allowed to play the character I’m currently dressed as?
A: No. While we love seeing our players really get into character, all players are free to choose any character from an established source of fiction, regardless of whether they choose to dress as a character or not. All wardrobe choices are welcome as long as they don’t violate Katsucon’s dress code policy.

Q: Is there an age requirement to participate in the LARP?
A: While we welcome players of all ages to participate in the LARP, it is worth noting that the content tends to hover around a PG to PG-13 level, and we ask that players under the age of 15 are accompanied by a parent or guardian while playing.

Q: Do I need to pick a character? Can I just play as myself/my OC?
A: Currently we require all players to choose a character from a well established or published source of fiction to ensure we can properly translate them into our system.

Q: Alright, I’m interested, what should I do next?
A: Awesome, think of up to three (3) characters you’d be interested in playing, and send us an email at [email protected]. We’ll get back to you as soon as possible and have your character sheet ready for you to pick up at the convention before the LARP begins on Friday afternoon.
